All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms and conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your obligations associated with the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements to Rent a Vehicle
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in South Shields, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions can vary by vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. 3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or at our South Shields location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally required when you pick up the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in South Shields, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. 7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is against policy. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire South Shields is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
